Grinnell Mutual recognized for workplace health initiatives

Grinnell Mutual’s “Well for Tomorrow” wellness program was honored with WELLCOM’s I.C.E. (Innovate, Connect, and Engage) Award at its Wellness Awards Gala on Oct. 8, in Omaha, Neb.

The award was given for Grinnell Mutual’s continuing commitment to offering innovative ways to improve employee wellbeing and for maximizing engagement in maintaining a culture of wellness. The company also received a Gold-level recognition from the American Heart Association’s Workplace Health Achievement Index at the same event, qualifying for the status for the second year.

WELLCOM is a nonprofit industry resource for wellness programming for companies in Iowa and Nebraska.

Grinnell Mutual was recognized for several innovative programs developed in the last five years. Initiatives include its Health Matters Clinic, a free, on-site health clinic open to employees and their families; a Wellness Ambassador program, which engages employees to champion wellness within their teams; and wellness awards that recognize employees’ individual wellness efforts. Awards range from small prizes to $500 checks given quarterly.

“Grinnell Mutual is always striving to be a workplace where our employees are healthy and happy. That means developing and maintaining a culture that values those things, and that offers innovative benefits,” said Lydia Caraveo, Grinnell Mutual’s Wellness Program manager.

“We are honored to be recognized by WELLCOM and the American Heart Association. The I.C.E. Award and Gold Recognition are testaments to the continuous work of both our leaders and employees over the past five years in fostering a wellness-focused environment.”
