Grinnell Mutual names Hutchinson Chief Audit Executive

The Grinnell Mutual board of directors audit committee has promoted Michelle Hutchinson to Chief Audit Executive.

“Michelle has done an outstanding job leading our internal audit team as the as both the Director of Audit Services and the Interim Chief Audit Executive,” said Jeff Menary, Grinnell Mutual president and CEO. “Already she has improved communications between Internal Auditing and our various departments. Her prior work experiences and her knowledge in information systems will serve Grinnell Mutual very well.”

In her new role, Hutchinson will lead Grinnell Mutual’s audit services division, and report to the company’s board of directors.

She will oversee both the internal audit team and the annual statement preparation and tax advisory services for Grinnell Mutual members. Internal audit adds value to an organization’s operations by evaluating business processes, risk management, and governance.

Hutchinson joined Grinnell Mutual in 2014 and most recently served as director of audit services. Prior to joining Grinnell Mutual, Hutchinson served as Financial Accounting Analyst for Principal Financial Group and Senior Financial Analyst for Aviva USA.

A graduate of Iowa State University, Hutchinson holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both Accounting and Management Information Systems. She is a Certified Public Accountant and has earned the designation Certified Information Systems Auditor.
