Grinnell Mutual wins Iowa wellness award

Grinnell Mutual was announced as the winner of the 2024 Iowa Healthiest State Initiative in the large company category on April 17, 2024, at the group’s awards luncheon.

The Healthiest State Initiative is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization with a goal to help Iowans live their best lives. The annual awards honor people and organizations in six categories for implementing best practices to support the physical, social, and mental well-being of Iowans.

Grinnell Mutual’s 2024 win follows three years of being a top-three finalist (2020, 2021, 2022). “We are truly honored to have received this award. It validates our ongoing efforts in employee well-being, which have been evolving over the last 12 years,” said Lydia Caraveo, Grinnell Mutual’s director of Employee Benefits.

The company offers an extensive wellness program, including an onsite wellness clinic where employees can find counseling services with a licensed marriage and family counselor and fitness training and consultations from a certified athletic trainer.

Other available wellness resources encompass physical, mental, and social wellbeing and comprise team and individual challenges, support groups, monetary spot awards for employees, and health insurance premium credit incentives.

Committed to community support and the sense of well-being that comes from helping others, Grinnell Mutual also offers paid volunteer time off and an annual “Day of Caring,” when employees can spend part or all of a workday helping with various charitable efforts.
