Grinnell Mutual hosts 110th Annual Meeting, elections

Grinnell, Iowa — Grinnell Mutual’s 110th Annual Meeting for its affiliated members convened in Grinnell, Iowa, on June 27 at the Grinnell Mutual Bartelt Conference & Education Center.

Grinnell Mutual President and CEO Jeff Menary presented the State of the Company address, followed by the annual business meeting to elect directors and review the company’s financial statements.

Two directors were unanimously elected to seats on the Grinnell Mutual Board of Directors. Kendall Lunsford of Iowa River Mutual (Eldora, Iowa) and Jim Wellman of German Farmers Mutual (New Knoxville, Ohio) will each serve a three-year term, ending in June of 2021.

Paul Stueven of Fairmont Farmers Mutual (Fairmont, Minnesota), was elected as the new chairman of the board; Bill Lampe of Heritage Mutual (Preston, Iowa), was elected first vice chair; and Jim Buch of Benton Mutual (Keystone, Iowa) was elected second vice chair.

The meeting emphasized Grinnell Mutual’s focus on insurance technology, with a rich set of speakers presenting on the topic “Accelerating results: Investing in our future.” Grinnell Mutual is investing in insurance technology by supporting early stage startups that add value for customers and reduce costs, and has been recognized as a leader of insurance innovation by A.M Best.

Speakers included Brian Hemesath of Global Insurance Accelerator, Megan Vollstedt of Iowa AgriTech Accelerator, David Beall of Insurance Social Media, Roland Chan of FindBob, and Amos Petersen of FarrPro. Chief Operating Officer Dave Wingert and Vice President of Underwriting, Sales, and Service Kurt Eaves also presented during this series.
