Grinnell Mutual celebrates fitness center grand opening

Grinnell Mutual unveiled its new fitness center on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, in a grand opening ceremony. The facility is open free of charge to Grinnell Mutual employees and their spouses from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

“The Grinnell Mutual Fitness Center complements our comprehensive wellness program, which already includes an onsite medical clinic,” said President and CEO Larry Jansen. “I am committed to our employees who I consider to be the best. They are our most important asset and their wellness is extremely important to us.”

The fitness center contains both strength and cardio equipment, including treadmills, elliptical machines, a recumbent bike, and lifting machines. Dumbbells, resistance bands, medicine balls, steps, and mats are also provided. A separate workout room features athletic flooring to be used for Boot Camp, cardio, and yoga classes led by Grinnell Regional Medical Center staff.

The new fitness center is housed in the Keeney building on the northeast corner of the Grinnell Mutual campus along with the Health Matters Clinic. Formerly used as training labs and a wash bay, the building has been remodeled to accommodate the clinic, meeting space for wellness programs, and the fitness center.
