Volunteering at Grinnell Mutual
Serving our employees’ communities is an important part of developing trust and respect. All employees receive eight hours of paid volunteer time off (VTO) per year so that they can make a difference in organizations that are important to them.
Team up for tomorrow
Making a difference is more fun with other people. Our Team Up for Tomorrow Volunteer program allows employees to form teams with their coworkers to compete for the most volunteer hours.
At the end of the challenge, Grinnell Mutual and the Grinnell Mutual Group Foundation donate funds to the organizations of the winning teams’ choice, based on the total number of hours volunteered by all employees.
Employees use their VTO hours to help others in need, volunteering for organizations like Habitat for Humanity and Special Olympics; to as far as Washington D.C. to advocate for children through Save the Children Action Network.
Showing Grinnell Mutual employees care
President and CEO Jeff Menary said what he loves about this challenge is that it represents the people that work at Grinnell Mutual.
“The foundation of any great organization is built by outstanding employees. The Team Up for Tomorrow challenge is a wonderful example of our outstanding staff and how caring they are. They care about the company, they care about our customers, they care about their coworkers, and they care about their communities.
Day of caring
In addition to volunteer time off, Grinnell Mutual hosts a Day of Caring annually, allowing employees to volunteer up to eight hours without having to use their VTO or other paid time off.
Grinnell Mutual employees have volunteered at many organizations across Iowa and in other states where employees live and work. Below are just a few of those organizations.
