Work from home | The Big Picture | The Grinnell Mutual Way
St. Patrick’s Day 2020 was one of the most unusual days I have had in my 40 years at Grinnell Mutual. The parking lot was almost vacant — there was hardly a soul to say “hello” to in the home office. Being an extrovert, this was a little spooky.
I lingered at the office that day until after 5:30 p.m. I just didn’t want to leave. I was sad knowing that I would not be returning to the office with it full of our employees for at least several weeks. I was drawn to the memories of when I was stricken with West Nile Virus and was absent from work for almost five months.
Yes, I was a little melancholy. I point this out since there may be others who feel a little bit the same way. As we practice social distancing from our work friends, personal friends, and family, some of us may get a little down.
That is why we must always focus on the big picture. These are the reasons we are doing this individually, as company, and as a nation:
- To protect our staff, employees, families, friends, and communities.
- To serve our customers and keep our promise to help them protect their dreams.
- To make certain that when the COVID-19 pandemic ends, Grinnell Mutual will emerge stronger than ever.
These create a clear vision of what we do and why we do it.
